A Topor (for Groom) / Mukut (for Bride) is a type of conical headgear traditionally worn by bride and groom as part of the Traditional Bengali Wedding ceremony.

My Mukuts are made of shola wood, artificial pearls, paper flower, glue, glitters and ribbons.

They are light weight and soft on head. 👸

The topor is traditionally given to the groom by the bride’s family. The groom dons the topor before the main ceremony begins. The Bride adorns the Mukut. It is believed to bring good luck to the couple.

Topors are also worn by infant boys as part of the annaprashan / rice ceremony, when they are dressed like grooms.
